SCell Spreadsheet Editor extension for Polarion® ALM™

The SCell Spreadsheet Editor extension seamlessly integrates into the Polarion ALM environment, offering users a convenient way to view and edit XLSX files without the need to switch between multiple applications.

SCell Features

1. Embedded Viewing and Editing: The extension enables users to view and edit Excel files directly within Polarion ALM, eliminating the need to download or open files in external applications.

2. Compatibility: It supports Excel file format *.xlsx.

3. Interactive Viewing: Users can interact with Excel sheets, including navigating through tabs, sorting data and applying basic formatting options, providing more immersive viewing experience.

4. Data Integrity: The extension preserves the integrity of the original Excel files, ensuring more than 135 functions and formulas and other complex elements are accurately rendered within Polarion ALM.

5. Polarion objects: The plugin allows to work with file attachments on the workitem form, on a separate page with filtered workitems that have xlsx file attachments, with attachments to LiveDoc, with workitem properties in LiveDoc, as well as use a widget in a LiveReport.

6. Version Control: Changes made within the embedded spreadsheet editor are saved into the separate revision of attachment, maintaining version control and ensuring data consistency across the platform.

7. Fullscreen and Tab bar: Fullscreen mode provides more comfortable experience when working with large data files. The plugin’s tab bar allows to navigate between XLSX attachments within a single window.

8. Clipboard: The advanced clipboard allows to copy and paste data both from external applications and to the other side, preserving styles and formatting.

How it works

The plugin is provided free of charge. Therefore, a standard installation is sufficient. To process Excel files, it will communicate with our SCell demo server scell.online (max. file size 1MB). For more reliable and secure work, you need to install a SCell server in your environment. Information about subscription plans is available on our website.

We are developing

We are constantly developing new functionality, including analyzing user wishes. Here are some of the planned features:

1. Side-by-side comparator: A convenient mechanism for side-by-side comparing two Excel files. These can be workitem attachments or revisions of one attachment. You can compare the data on the screen with a file from the user’s file system or network. This functionality will allow you to track changes in data, or formulas, or the results of formula calculations, styles, and more.

2. Co-authoring: A mode for simultaneous editing of a document by several users with real-time display of changes made by all users and preservation of authorship.

3. Other Excel features: Conditional formatting and styles, filters, groups, charts and more.

4. File extensions: Providing work with other data formats, for example, CSV (comma-separated values) files, as well as files with macros and OLE objects.
